How does the Carver Cascade 2 & 2 GE work?
The Cascade 2 (and 2 GE version) are models of integrated water heaters typically installed in touring caravans in the 80s and 90s.
They are essentially storage water heaters with an ample capacity of 9 litres which works out at around 2 gallons.
The unit is recognisable by it’s flue cowl being visible on one of the external sides of the caravan.
The operational parts that for gas are found inside an individual module that should only be removed by a qualified gas engineer.
To operate the system on gas, use the control panel inside the caravan which can be found mounted on the wall. You can identify the state of the heater using the indicator lights on the front of the panel.
If you have the Cascade 2 GE then your water heater also operates on 240 V mains electric. This is a real benefit because you can run both gas and electric at the same time in order to speed up the heating process.
We have a full copy of the operating instructions manual for the Carver Cascade 2 & GE models in our archive. Included with this is a copy of the step-by-step installation instructions – very handy if you plan to remove and reinstall.
